Dress My Maids – Marks & Spencer

Posted by Emma ♥ - April 23rd, 2013

Marks & Spencer’s might not be the first shop that comes to mind when starting to search for your bridesmaid dresses – it was only by chance that I came across their Bridesmaid collection when looking for my cocktail dress last week.

I’m blooming glad I did though – they have some beautiful styles to suit all shapes and sizes in a lovely range of colours too! Following on from my cream theme a couple of weeks back, I thought I’d share my favourite long and shorter length dresses (3 of each) in lovely neutral colours which would compliment any theme this spring/summer….

Clockwise from top left…

Sleeveless Flared Hem Belted Maxi Dress – £89.00

Crossover V Neck Pleated Maxi Dress – £99.00

V Neck Pleated Maxi Dress – £99.00

Pleated Fit and Flare Dress – £79.00

Slash Neck Floral Lace Shift Dress – £69.00

Pleated Fit and Flare Dress – £79.00

Dressing your maids need not be a huge expense as many high street shops are showing us and with many of the styles being as versatile as they are, it’s a nice thought that your chosen ladies will be able to wear their dresses after the wedding too making the investment an even bigger bargain!

I’m loving that Mint dress – maybe this could help as part of my ‘dress fear’ cure…….. Any excuse eh!

Much love,

Wednesday’s Wedding Faves – Alphabet Bags

Posted by Emma ♥ - January 30th, 2013

(Images clockwise from top left)

Bridesmaid – Rose: £12.00

Here Comes The Bride: £12.00

Ring – Gold: £12.00

Just Married – Teal: £12.00

I love the Alphabet Bags range but it wasn’t until recently that I realised they had a Wedding collection.

These gifts would be a great way in which to ask your nearest and dearest to be part of your day (wrap them up and present them to the girls) or they would be a brilliant accessory for your bridesmaids (and yourself of course!) on the day itself.

It’s easy to forget how much you do need to be in easy reach on your wedding day – make up bag for a quick retouch, your perfume to keep you smelling fresh, your phone just incase you needed it and these to name just a few.

It wasn’t something I thought about at all – all my bits were scattered between people so it was a nightmare trying to find the right person when the item was needed. I really could have done with one of these!

They will also be a great keepsake for your ladies and at £12.00 a complete bargain too!

Moodboard – Blush Pink Bridesmaid Dresses

Posted by Emma ♥ - January 21st, 2013

Congratulations to all of you newly engaged couples – judging by the site stats, our lovely partners were busy buying diamonds over the Christmas period!

It took me a couple of months after Noel proposed to really crack on with the wedding planning and once the date had been set and the venue was booked my thoughts turned to Bridesmaid dresses.

The colour/theme of your wedding plays a big part in choosing the garments for your bridal party and anyone who knows me wouldn’t have been suprised when I chose pink! We’re not talking a nice subtle shade either – I mean hot pink!

It’s been nearly 7 years since our wedding and a teeny part of me wishes I had gone for a more natural shade of the colour. Main reason being because my taste has changed alot throughout this time and I also think my photos perhaps wouldn’t date quite so quickly.

As of next Tuesday, for the following 13 weeks I will be writing about the top 13 trends for 2013 (wow that’s a mouthful when you say it out loud!) but for this week, I’m releasing a little ‘bridesmaid dress envy’ by sharing with you a few beautiful blush pink gowns I spotted over the weekend – the first one is just gorgeous and would most certainly have been top of my list…..

Dresses clockwise from top left

Light Pink Ruched Mesh Maxi Dress - Debenhams – £120

Violetta Dusky Pink Satin Bridesmaid Dress – BHS – £125.00

Sarina Maxi Dress – Debenhams – £220.00

Evie Dusky Pink Satin Bridesmaid Dress - BHS – £87.50

Hope you have a fab day and back tomorrow with some Wednesday Weddings Faves!

Much love,

Tuesday’s Bridal Fashion and Wedding Trends

Posted by Emma ♥ - September 20th, 2011

This week on Tuesday’s Bridal Fashion we are looking at kitting out our lovely bridesmaids and flower girls.

Bridesmaid shopping was a really fun part of planning my day! It’s a great excuse (like we need one!) to get the girls together and really make a day of it.

Beware though, you may go out with a colour in mind and come home with some quite different – I had seen some lovely dusty pink colour dresses which I was taking my bridesmaids to try on but when we got there I fell in love with the brighter fuchsia colour (not too sure what the girls thought lol) – it was a drastic change but one I’m glad I made as they looked fab! Has this happened to anyone else?

Sometimes though, especially these days with everyone working long hours and people having so much on, it can be quite difficult to arrange a time and date suitable enough for everyone to come together so sometimes you just have to resort to good old internet shopping to help you out!

One of my favourite online stores is Very and I seen recently that they now do wedding dresses (which I am featuring in a couple of weeks!) and bridesmaid dresses too. These are delivered straight to your door and you have got 21 days to return these if they are not suitable. They have got some great styles – here are my top picks in my favourite colour…..

1. One Shoulder Maxi Length Bridesmaid Dress

2. Corsage Skirt Bridesmaid Dress

3. Rosalind Dress

4. Florence Bridesmaid Dress

5. Ladybird Girls Bridesmaid Dress

6. Freespirit Waterfall Bridesmaid Dress

Now, I’m not too sure you would call these a trend but I have added them to this section as I think they SHOULD be a trend!

On looking at one of my favourite wedding inspiration blogs – Wedding Chicks – I came across this post which talks about how a bride named Bethany asked her friends to be her bridesmaids. I am one of those brides guilty of plying my girls with drinks and then springing it on them that they were going to get dolled up in pretty dresses for the day (that have been chosen by moi – eek!) while making sure I was kept calm (which is a big job beleive me lol!). In hindsight though, and having seen these lovely boxes, I do wish that maybe I had put a little more though into it and came up with something similar to….

Full details on how Bethany made these can be found here.

Could you imagine the picture on your bridesmaids faces if they received one of these from the postman! How did you ask your friends/relatives to be your bridesmaids?

Wedding Tips, Facts & Fun!

Picking your Bridesmaids

Image: 100 Layer Cake

Well do I have a treat for you!! Seeing as I am 3 days behind (really trying hard to get to grips with ‘Scheduling’ lol!) you will have plenty of reading to catch up with so make sure you come back at 2pm and 5pm (GMT) to catch the rest of today’s posts!

One of the first decisions you will probably make when planning the big day is who will be part of your wedding party – bridesmaids, best man, ushers etc. There are no rules on who you should or should not have or how many (my husband had 3 best men!) but make sure you give it plenty of thought.

One thing that you should consider when picking your bridal party is how reliable they are? When picking you are not only showing people how much you think of them but they will also be helping you with the planning (if you need them to) and helping things run smoothly on the day relieving a lot of the stress from you.

Can you trust your chief bridesmaid to arrange your hen night/weekend? Will they support you during the planning and offer an ear when planning gets too much and you need to vent??

If you pick wisely then your bridal party will be worth their weight in gold!
