Tuesday’s Bridal Party Fashion and Wedding Trends!

Posted by Emma ♥ - October 11th, 2011

This week on Tuesday’s Bridal Party Fashion we are looking at dressing the Groom! For as many different dress styles that us ladies have to choose from, there are also a fair few choices for the boys too. While we decide on how long we want our train, the boys decide on whether they want Tails? We debate the Veil or Headpeice and the boys debate on Top Hat or not?

Today we are looking at Shoes! I asked my husband for a bit of help with this one as he’s a little Fashionista at heart and LOVES his shoes. Needless to say he jumped at the chance and had this list of ‘must haves’ from his favourite shoe shop back to me in minutes! Think I might have to call on his help more often….

1. Busby Black – £99.00

2. UCLA Burgundy – £129.00

3. Busby Tan – £99.00

4. UCLA Black – £129.00

5. Albacor Black – £120.00

6. Tronic Tan – £199.00

Well now we have the shoes sorted, it only seems fair to mark the occasion with a brand new pair of socks!!! Groom Socks are very popular and with hundreds of variations to choose from, I left his job to my hubby once more and here are his top 5 picks!…

1. Groom Socks – Etsy

2. Groom Socks (personalised)- Happy Feet Sock Company

3. Groom Socks (personalised) – My Favourite Socks

4. Groom Socks – Wedding Extras

5. Groom Socks – Cheeky Cheeks

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day and don’t forget to comment below if you have any advice on Grooms fashion – we would love to hear from you!

Huge apologies once again from me peeps as I am a day behind with my posts so you are treated to two today!!

Recently, after our Bridesmaid/FlowerGirl fashion post, I promised to take a look at the Wedding dresses I came across on Very which were such amazing value for money! They look like your typical designer wedding dress and having looked at lots for reviews on their website, they seem very well made too. The variety isn’t hug but when the prices start from under £100 I don’t think we have any reason to complain! Here are my top 5 picks…

1. Darcy Satin Wedding Dress

2. Embellished Corsage Skirt Wedding Dress

3. Hannah Wedding Dress

4. Ivory Organza Wedding Dress

5. Short Corset Bridal Dress

Some fab bargains there eh and you’re not compromising on any style of quality either!

Don’t forget to check back at 3.00pm for our Wednesday Wedding Fave!

Tuesday’s Bridal Party Fashions and Wedding Trends

This week on Tuesday’s Bridal Fashion we are looking at kitting out the lovely Best Man (or men in some cases) and Ushers (Groomsmen).

These guys play a much bigger part in the wedding than I first really gave them credit for. To be honest, my first thought was that it was going to be a big excuse for his closest friends and family to take the hubby out and getting him wasted and not much more to be honest but I was sooooooo wrong!!

With my husband being a Soldier, it had become too hard a task to choose a Best Man as the friends you make in the Army really do become like brothers so he had THREE! He then also had his younger brother and my little brother as Ushers too.

I was shocked at the interest they paid and how enthusiastic they were about their duties on the day. They were a godsend at times and provided ALOT of entertainment too.

Here is a brief overview of  duties which are traditionally carried out by the Best Man and Ushers/Groomsmen…

Responsibilities of the Groomsmen include:

Seating the guests prior to the ceremony
Arranging the Stag/Bachelor party
Assisting with Suit/Tuxedo choices and hire
Entertaining the bridesmaids at the reception (I think this is always a popular duty!)
Any other customary duties/responsibilities

Extra Responsibilites for the Best Man include:

Caring for the bride’s ring while at the altar
Serving as witness to the marriage
Giving the speech at the reception
Any other customary duties/responsibilities

The Groomsmen do tend to wear the same/very similar attire with the Groom usually wearing a different colour/shade of tie or waistcoat to distinguish himself.

With suit hire proving quite expensive, many men now look to actually purchase the suits and here are a few fab finds under £150 ….

1 – Dark Grey Razor Edge Suit – Burtons

2 – Super Slim Fit Limited Collection 2 Button Suit – Marks & Spencers

3 – Silver Piped Slim Fit Suit – Next

4 – Grey Textured Stripe Slim Fit Suit – Burtons

5 – Slim Fit Suit with Wool – Marks & Spencers

I suppose it’s only fair that we get these guys a gift after all the hard work and effort they put into making sure your big day is so special and today I head to another of my favourite USA wedding websites, The Knot.com, to see what ideas they have for pressies. Here are my top 5 picks….

1 – Leather Wrapped Pen

2 – Giant Beer Glass

3 – Smooth Business Card Holder

4 – Chrome Zippo Lighter

5 – Secret Agent Cuff Links

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day and don’t forget to comment below if you have any advice on Groomsmen fashion or tips for gifts!

Tuesday’s Bridal Fashion and Wedding Trends

This week on Tuesday’s Bridal Fashion we are looking at kitting out our lovely bridesmaids and flower girls.

Bridesmaid shopping was a really fun part of planning my day! It’s a great excuse (like we need one!) to get the girls together and really make a day of it.

Beware though, you may go out with a colour in mind and come home with some quite different – I had seen some lovely dusty pink colour dresses which I was taking my bridesmaids to try on but when we got there I fell in love with the brighter fuchsia colour (not too sure what the girls thought lol) – it was a drastic change but one I’m glad I made as they looked fab! Has this happened to anyone else?

Sometimes though, especially these days with everyone working long hours and people having so much on, it can be quite difficult to arrange a time and date suitable enough for everyone to come together so sometimes you just have to resort to good old internet shopping to help you out!

One of my favourite online stores is Very and I seen recently that they now do wedding dresses (which I am featuring in a couple of weeks!) and bridesmaid dresses too. These are delivered straight to your door and you have got 21 days to return these if they are not suitable. They have got some great styles – here are my top picks in my favourite colour…..

1. One Shoulder Maxi Length Bridesmaid Dress

2. Corsage Skirt Bridesmaid Dress

3. Rosalind Dress

4. Florence Bridesmaid Dress

5. Ladybird Girls Bridesmaid Dress

6. Freespirit Waterfall Bridesmaid Dress

Now, I’m not too sure you would call these a trend but I have added them to this section as I think they SHOULD be a trend!

On looking at one of my favourite wedding inspiration blogs – Wedding Chicks – I came across this post which talks about how a bride named Bethany asked her friends to be her bridesmaids. I am one of those brides guilty of plying my girls with drinks and then springing it on them that they were going to get dolled up in pretty dresses for the day (that have been chosen by moi – eek!) while making sure I was kept calm (which is a big job beleive me lol!). In hindsight though, and having seen these lovely boxes, I do wish that maybe I had put a little more though into it and came up with something similar to….

Full details on how Bethany made these can be found here.

Could you imagine the picture on your bridesmaids faces if they received one of these from the postman! How did you ask your friends/relatives to be your bridesmaids?

This week on Tuesday’s Bridal Party Fashion we are looking at dressing the Groom! For as many different dress styles that us ladies have to choose from, there are also a fair few choices for the boys too. While we decide on how long we want our train, the boys decide on whether they want Tails? We debate the Veil or Headpeice and the boys debate on Top Hat or not?

Today we are looking at Morning Suits. These are three-peice suits including a tailcoat, waist coat and trousers. They are usually worn with a white wing collar shirt and cravat but could be worn with a plain white shirt and tie if preferred. A Top Hat and Gloves complete the outfit but neither of these are usually worn much throughout the day – the Top Hat is usually on for the photographs but otherwise carried along with the gloves.

Take a look at my favourite 5 Morning suits below….

1. Mohair Edwards

2. Lingfield Morning Suit

3. Carisbrooke Morning Suit

4. Charcoal Tailcoat

5. Autograph Morning Suit

This weeks ‘Wedding Trend’ is Bunting! I just can’t get enough of this and have actually just ordered some to decorate my office (I’m moving into the spare room – yipeeeee!!). It is a godsend for Marquee weddings as it adds a nice bit of colour, brightens the whole space up and all at a very small cost too giving it a beautiful country garden feel in seconds!

Take a look at the bunting below for some inspiration….

Tuesday’s Bridal Party Fashion & Wedding Trends

Each Tuesday we will be looking at what’s hot regarding Bridal party trends each month. We will be featuring….

Bridal Fashion & Wedding Trends

Groom Fashion & Wedding Trends

Bridesmaids, Flowers Girls & Mother of the Bride Trends Fashion & Wedding Trends

Best Men & Ushers Trends Fashion & Wedding Trends

Something that we are seeing lots of at the minute are dresses with the ‘Ruffled’ effect and I just can’t get enough of them!! They’re so beautiful and although some dresses may seem way over the top there are others that are so understated and elegant!

Here are my top picks….

Dress 1 – AY001 by Sophia Tolli

Dress 2 – May by Madeline Isaac James

Dress 3 – Nova by Sottero & Midgley

Dress 4 – JH8012 by Jim Hjelm

Dress 5 – Ivandra by Maggie Sottero

One of my favourite wedding trends at the minute has to be the Cake Pops! They look so cute and for people that haven’t got too much of a sweet tooth (like myself!) they are perfect – and for those who have you can load up on them!! …..

Oooooooh how yummy do they look!! I have a few parties coming up in the next year and I know what I am going to be going for instead of the traditional cake!

Check out Bakerella for further details.
