I often read articles/posts from people regarding lessons they learn when running their business and always like to make a note of any of those relevant to help me as I’m so new to this ‘self employed’ malarky and just this week I have learnt something myself!

I had a  phone call from a lovely lady at Help for Heroes this week saying that I’m basically unable to advertise the percentage or exact amount of profits I give to the charity and that it should be referred to as ‘Fundraising’ rather than ‘Donating’…

I’ve had to change the wording on the site to reflect this  BUT the amount that I give remains the same as before – I have further information on this available  for anyone who isn’t aware and needs more details (and also a copy of the email from Help for Heroes to back this up) so please email me at emma @ militaryweddingdiscounts.com if you need this.

I will be donating via a BMyCharity page from February and will be provided with an official ‘Fundraising’ logo to use on the site.

Once again, I just want to stress that the money given to Help for Heroes remains the EXACT same as it always has been so nothing changes in that respect, I have just needed to change the wording.

Military Wedding Discount Launches across the UK and USA

Military Wedding Discounts is a great new website that has been designed to help members of the armed forces in both the UK and the USA save money when planning their wedding.

Emma and Terri decided to set up Military Wedding Discounts in order to help troops save money on their big day and to also help raise money for two charities Help 4 Heroes based in the UK and Operation Gratitude based in the USA.

All categories are covered from dresses and suits to catering and cake and from stag and hen do ideas to photographers and jewellery.  The website offers suppliers both in the UK and USA who are offering special rates to the military personal and 50% of all advertising fees are donated to the charities.

Emma Said: ‘supporting a military charity is something we both wanted to do for a long time and have combined it with our love of weddings. We are also looking into organising fundraising events of our own to help raise more money for both the UK charity Help4Heroes and USA charity Operation Gratitude’

There is also a section on ‘Real Military Weddings’ where brides and grooms or photographers can submit their wedding to be featured on the website. When the founders of Help for Heroes (Bryn and Emma Parry) set out they intended to raise £10K by doing a bike ride back in July 2007. A few days later they went to Headley court and decided to help raise £500K and then, after a trip to Selly Oak and meeting some ‘extraordinary blokes’ they realized that their lives had changed forever and raised the target to £5m.

Help for Heroes was launched on 1st October 2007 and now,  just over 3 years later, Help for Heroes has reached the £100 Million mark!!! Every single penny that has been raised has gone to help our brave men and woman who have been wounded while on duty.

But Help for Heroes are not stopping here – your continued support is needed to help those who have been injured and to make sure these brave service men and women are looked after for years to come. Help for Heroes is fully funded by the public giving their time and money to such a great cause whether it’s through orgainising fund raising events or purchasing the Help For Heroes Wristband (or other merchandise).
